Original Research Article

Borneo Engineering: Jurnal Teknik Sipil accepts original research articles presenting the results of scientific investigations, experimental studies, field observations, numerical simulations, analytical studies, and applied research in civil engineering and related disciplines.

Submitted manuscripts must report original findings, demonstrate scientific rigor, and provide meaningful contributions to the advancement of civil engineering knowledge, methods, technologies, or professional practice. The research should be relevant to the journal's focus and scope and supported by appropriate research methods, reliable data, sound analysis, and a clear discussion of the findings.

The journal welcomes original research in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Structural Engineering: Structural analysis and design, reinforced concrete, steel structures, earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, and structural performance assessment.

  • Geotechnical Engineering: Soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, soil improvement, geotechnical investigation, and ground engineering.

  • Water Resources Engineering: Hydrology, hydraulics, flood analysis and prediction, river engineering, irrigation, drainage systems, and water resource management.

  • Transportation Engineering: Transportation planning, traffic engineering, pavement materials and design, road infrastructure, transportation safety, and sustainable mobility.

  • Construction Engineering and Management: Construction materials, construction technology, project management, construction productivity, cost estimation, risk management, and sustainable construction.

  • Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering: Environmental impact assessment, wastewater management, solid waste management, infrastructure sustainability, and other relevant civil engineering applications.

  • Computational and Emerging Technologies in Civil Engineering: Numerical modeling, computational mechanics, building information modeling (BIM), artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven methods applied to civil engineering problems.

Manuscript Requirements

Manuscripts submitted as Original Research Articles must meet the following requirements:

  1. Originality: The manuscript must present original research that has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication by another journal.

  2. Scientific Contribution: The study must demonstrate a clear research objective, identify the problem being investigated, and explain the significance and contribution of its findings.

  3. Research Methodology: The manuscript must describe the research methods, materials, data sources, experimental procedures, analytical techniques, or numerical models in sufficient detail to support scientific evaluation and reproducibility.

  4. Results and Discussion: The findings must be presented clearly and supported by appropriate data, tables, figures, calculations, or other relevant evidence. The discussion should interpret the results and relate them to previous studies and established scientific knowledge.

  5. Manuscript Format: The main manuscript must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx). Rich Text Format (.rtf) files may also be submitted in accordance with the journal's Author Guidelines. Authors are expected to follow the journal's prescribed manuscript template and formatting requirements.

  6. Ethical Compliance: Authors must ensure the accuracy and integrity of the research, provide appropriate citations, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and comply with the journal's publication ethics policies.

Manuscript Structure

An Original Research Article should generally contain the following sections, following the journal's Author Guidelines:

  1. Title

  2. Author Names and Affiliations

  3. Abstract

  4. Keywords

  5. Introduction

  6. Methods

  7. Results and Discussion

  8. Conclusion

  9. Acknowledgments, where applicable

  10. References

Additional subsections may be included where necessary to reflect the nature and methodology of the research.

Editorial Assessment

All submitted manuscripts are subject to an initial editorial assessment to determine their relevance to the journal's scope, originality, compliance with the submission requirements, and overall scientific quality. Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements may proceed to the journal's peer-review process in accordance with its editorial policies.

Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee acceptance. The final decision on publication is made by the editor based on the manuscript's scientific merit, relevance, quality, and the outcome of the peer-review process.

Authors are strongly encouraged to consult the journal's Author Guidelines and use the prescribed manuscript template before submitting their work.
