Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of career readiness of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) students to face further education and the world of work. The background of this study is based on the importance of the adolescent phase as a transition period towards adulthood that requires a strong self-understanding and a strong personality to plan the right future. Involving thirty students in grades VII and VIII in one MT, this study used a descriptive quantitative method. Knowledge of careers and the world of work, self-understanding and career interests, basic skills, future attitudes and motivations, and the role of education and the environment are five components that must be considered when assessing career readiness. The results showed that most students were in the medium readiness category in all aspects. They received an overall average score of 3.93, indicating that they were in the high category. However, to improve self-understanding, mental resilience, 21st century skills, and mature career decision-making abilities that are in accordance with the character and potential of each individual, educational intervention is needed through group guidance and individual counseling. The career development theory of Super, Krumboltz, Holland, Parsons, and Zunker is the basis of this study. These theories emphasize the importance of combining social, personal, and environmental elements to create career readiness. This study suggests improving character-based and contextual guidance and counseling programs to create a generation of students who are intelligent, adaptive, and competitive to face global challenges.
