Hypertension is called the silent killer because most cases of hypertension in society result from sufferers not realizing that they suffer from hypertension because they do not have symptoms. Hypertension treatment is carried out in 2 ways, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological. One non-pharmacological treatment that can be done to reduce hypertension is isometric handgrip exercise. The American Heart Association (AHA) classifies isometric handgrip exercise therapy as a potential therapy for lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The purpose of writing this paper is to determine the effect of isometric handgrip exercise on families who have hypertension. The author used the case report method on three patients with hypertension, dividing the patients who did isometric handgrip exercise into two patients and one patient who did not do isometric handgrip exercise. The isometric handgrip exercise is carried out for five meetings for 3 minutes. The analysis of the application of isometric handgrip exercise to patients showed a decrease in blood pressure with an average decrease of 10.5mmHg in systolic pressure and 11mmHg in diastolic pressure. So it can be concluded that isometric handgrip exercise can reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
