Publication Ethics

Author Responsibilities

  1. Authors must maintain complete independence from evaluation personnel throughout the manuscript review process
  2. Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. The names of the individuals who do not contribute to the study must not be included among authors. All those who have made substantial contributions should be listed as co-authors. No author names can be added after submission. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the paper (e.g. language editing or medical writing), they should be recognized in the only acknowledgements section.
  3. All submissions must represent entirely original work with proper attribution of referenced materials and sources
  4. Authors are responsible for obtaining necessary permissions for copyrighted content and confidential information usage
  5. Comprehensive and accurate citation of all influential works and data sources is mandatory for scholarly integrity
  6. Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of research findings is strictly prohibited
  7. Simultaneous submission of manuscripts to multiple journals is forbidden and constitutes unethical publishing behavior
  8. All potential conflicts of interest, funding sources, and institutional affiliations must be disclosed transparent
  9. Raw data must be made available to editors and reviewers upon request during the evaluation process
  10. Informed consent must be obtained for all human subjects, and privacy rights must be protected
  11. All sources of financial support for the conduct of the research and/or preparation of the article should be disclosed, as should the role of the sponsor(s), if any, in study design; in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data; in the writing of the report; and in the decision to submit the article for publication. If the funding source(s) had no such involvement then this should be stated.

Ethical Appropriateness Checklist

  1. Have you obtained official permissions for data collection/use, etc.?
  2. Have you secured proper copyright permissions for any copyrighted materials used in your research
  3. Have you obtained required permissions from copyright holders for previously published data, tools, or procedures?
  4. Have you provided appropriate citations for all information derived from other published sources?
  5. Have you obtained valid consent letters from all research participants or can provide adequate justification?
  6. Have all co-authors reviewed, approved, and agreed upon the content of the submitted manuscript version?
  7. Have you verified that your research methodology meets established ethical standards

 

Editor's Responsibilities

  1. Editors maintain sole authority over publication decisions while adhering to established ethical guidelines and standards
  2. The peer review process must be conducted fairly, objectively, and within reasonable timeframes using qualified reviewers
  3. Manuscript evaluation must be based purely on intellectual merit without bias regarding author demographics or affiliations
  4. Editorial policies must promote transparency, honest reporting, and clear expectations for authors and reviewers
  5. Editors should safeguard the integrity of the published record through continuous monitoring and assessment
  6. Editorial independence must be maintained free from commercial, political, or institutional pressure and influence

 

Reviewer's Responsibilities

  1. Reviewers should accept evaluation assignments only within their specific areas of expertise and competenc
  2. Complete objectivity and confidentiality must be maintained throughout the entire manuscript evaluation process
  3. Manuscript assessment must be based solely on content quality, methodology, and scientific merit
  4. Constructive, professional feedback should be provided without personal criticism, offensive language, or bias
  5. Evaluation deadlines must be respected consistently, and timely communication with editors is essential
  6. Personal characteristics such as nationality, gender, religion, or political views must not influence review decisions
  7. Reviewers must avoid using privileged information obtained during review for personal or professional advantage

Publisher's Responsibilities

  1. Publishers must guarantee complete editorial independence and protect editors from external pressures or influences
  2. Comprehensive anti-plagiarism measures and misconduct detection systems must be implemented and regularly updated
  3. Publishers should promote ethical standards by facilitating membership in organizations like Committee on Publication Ethics
  4. Transparent policies regarding publication processes, fees, and correction procedures must be clearly communicated
  5. Publishers must support editors in investigating misconduct allegations and implementing appropriate corrective actions
