Repository Policy
1. Policy Statement
Jurnal Borneo Humaniora supports the dissemination, accessibility, and long-term preservation of scholarly publications. In accordance with its commitment to open access, the journal encourages authors to deposit and share their scholarly work through institutional repositories, subject-based repositories, personal academic websites, and other reputable scholarly platforms.
Repository activities must respect applicable copyright provisions, the licensing terms of the published article, and the requirement to acknowledge the original publication in Jurnal Borneo Humaniora.
2. Author Self-Archiving
Authors are encouraged to deposit their work in appropriate repositories to increase the visibility, accessibility, and potential impact of their research. The following versions may be deposited, subject to the applicable copyright and licensing terms:
-
Preprint: The version of the manuscript before formal peer review. Authors should disclose any relevant preprint when submitting their manuscript to the journal.
-
Accepted manuscript: The version incorporating revisions accepted after peer review but before the publisher's final formatting and publication.
-
Published version: The final version of record published by Jurnal Borneo Humaniora, provided that its redistribution complies with the applicable licence and copyright terms.
Authors should ensure that any deposited version is clearly identified and does not misrepresent its publication status. Where applicable, the journal may require authors to follow additional conditions relating to the version deposited.
3. Repository Requirements and Attribution
When depositing an article in a repository or on another academic platform, authors should:
-
Provide the complete bibliographic citation of the original publication in Jurnal Borneo Humaniora.
-
Include the article's DOI or permanent publication URL, where available.
-
Identify the deposited version accurately, such as preprint, accepted manuscript, or published version.
-
Retain the copyright and licence information associated with the article.
-
Acknowledge the original publication and provide a direct link to the journal's official article page.
-
Ensure that the deposited content has not been altered in a way that misrepresents the published research or its findings.
Authors must comply with the applicable licence when reproducing, redistributing, or adapting published content.
4. Embargo Policy
Jurnal Borneo Humaniora supports the timely dissemination of scholarly research. Repository deposits are permitted in accordance with the applicable copyright and licensing terms. Any embargo or restriction, if applicable, must be determined by the journal's formally adopted policy and the licence governing the relevant article.
Authors should consult the editorial office if they are uncertain about the conditions applicable to a particular manuscript version.
5. Digital Preservation and Archiving
Jurnal Borneo Humaniora is committed to preserving its published scholarly content and maintaining access to its articles over time. The journal's stated archiving policy identifies the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system as a digital preservation mechanism intended to support distributed archiving and restoration.
The journal also seeks to maintain its publication records, article files, and associated metadata through its electronic journal management system. Appropriate backup and recovery procedures should be maintained to reduce the risk of content loss caused by technical failures or other disruptions.
The availability and operational status of preservation services depend on the journal's actual technical configuration and participation in the relevant archiving networks.
6. Repository Independence and Continued Access
Authors may deposit eligible versions of their articles in institutional or subject repositories independently of the journal's website, subject to the applicable copyright and licensing conditions.
Repository deposits should preserve accurate publication information and maintain a link to the official journal record. If the journal's website or publication platform changes, the journal will seek to maintain access to its published content and bibliographic records through appropriate preservation and migration procedures.
7. Responsibilities of Authors and the Journal
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their repository deposits comply with the applicable copyright, licence, attribution, and research integrity requirements.
The editorial team is responsible for communicating the journal's repository policy, maintaining accurate publication records, and coordinating appropriate preservation measures within the journal's available technical and institutional arrangements.
For questions concerning repository deposits, copyright, or archiving, authors may contact the editorial office of Jurnal Borneo Humaniora through the official journal website.
8. Policy Review
This policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect developments in open-access publishing, copyright and licensing requirements, repository practices, and digital preservation standards.
