Abstract

The advancement of technology and the rapid growth of digitalization make students more vulnerable to misinformation and manipulation, particularly when their critical thinking skills are weak. This experimental study aims to examine the impact of the SLIDO application on students’ critical thinking skills, focusing on their self-systems during learning calculus on partial differential equations (PDEs). This quantitative research employed a treatment-by-level experimental design with three variables: the SLIDO application, students’ self-system, and students’ critical thinking skills. Using a multi-stage sampling technique, 48 students were selected as participants. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The findings indicate that: (1) students who learned with the SLIDO application demonstrated higher critical thinking skills than those taught through conventional methods; (2) there is a significant difference in critical thinking skills between students with high and low self-systems; and (3) there is a significant interaction effect between the use of the SLIDO application and students’ self-system on their critical thinking skills.
