Abstract

The professional landscape in 2026 has shifted toward sophisticated hybrid models, moving away from traditional office centric routines. This research examines the dual influence of hybrid work flexibility on employee productivity and the stress level within the regional context of Tarakan City, North Kalimantan. Adopting a quantitative explanatory design, data were collected from 120 respondents through purposive sampling and analyzed using multiple linear regression via SPSS. The empirical results indicate that hybrid work flexibility significantly enhances professional productivity (t = 6.845, p <0.05) while simultaneously acting as a critical mitigator of the employee’s stress level (t = −3.276, p <0.05). Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.674) reveals that flexibility explains 67.4% of the variance in both performance and stress levels. These findings confirm that spatial and temporal autonomy serve as vital environmental resources that maximize human capital potential and mental resilience. The study concludes that institutional success in regional urban centers is increasingly dependent on output-based metrics and empathetic management rather than physical presence, offering a strategic framework for refining Work from Anywhere (WFA) policies.
