Abstract

This study examines the effect of work-life balance on teacher performance with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. The research was conducted to understand whether a balance between professional and personal life contributes directly or indirectly to improving teacher performance. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey method. Data were collected from 240 teachers through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, while job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. However, work-life balance does not have a significant direct effect on teacher performance. The results further reveal that job satisfaction significantly mediates the relationship between work-life balance and teacher performance, indicating that the influence of work-life balance on performance occurs through increased job satisfaction. These findings suggest that teacher performance is more likely to improve when a balanced work and personal life enhances teachers’ satisfaction with their jobs. Therefore, educational institutions should focus on creating supportive work environments and policies that promote work-life balance and job satisfaction in order to achieve better teacher performance and educational outcomes.
